Does your child avoid writing…
or get frustrated when they have to?
You might see messy work, slow progress, or a grip that just doesn’t seem right —and wonder why it’s such a struggle.
It’s easy to assume they just need more practice. But for many children, the real issue lies beneath the surface.

Why Handwriting Matters
Handwriting is a fundamental skill used across almost every subject at school.
From taking notes and completing homework to sitting exams, children rely on their ability to write clearly and comfortably every single day.
When handwriting is difficult, slow, or tiring, it can have a direct impact on school performance. Children may avoid writing tasks, lose confidence, and fall behind — not because they don’t understand the work, but because writing itself feels like a struggle.
When something feels hard, it’s natural to do less of it. Over time, this lack of practice can make handwriting difficulties even worse.
That’s why the right support matters.
With focused, consistent practice — delivered in a way that’s engaging and achievable — children can build confidence, improve their skills, and begin to enjoy writing again.

About Helen
My name is Helen David, and I’m a qualified teacher and handwriting specialist.
I work with children who find handwriting difficult — whether that’s messy writing, slow progress, poor pencil grip, or a lack of confidence when putting pen to paper.

What makes my approach different is that I don’t just focus on the handwriting itself. I look at the underlying skills that make handwriting possible in the first place.
Through my classroom experience and specialist training, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how factors such as posture, coordination, vision, and motor skills affect a child’s ability to write. By identifying what’s really causing the difficulty, I’m able to provide targeted, practical support that leads to lasting improvement.
I’ve supported hundreds of children, and the results often go far beyond handwriting. Parents regularly tell me they see improvements in confidence, focus, and overall engagement with school.
For me, it’s about helping each child feel capable, supported, and proud of what they can achieve.
